(Anyone?) Hunting Besides The Graves... « Thread Started on Oct 27, 2007, 8:50am »
Leaping over the headstones, the ginger she-cat sniffed the air, her yellow eyes peering into the shadows. Her tail flicked, and her whiskers did the same. All the mice must be hiding lately...either that, or they were scared of her. The moonlight casted long shadows on the ground, providing plenty of cover for predator and prey alike. The willow trees that framed the edge of the graveyard rustled in the wind that blew steadily from the north. To the east, she could just see the tip of the big Twoleg mansion, poking itself out from beyond the willow trees. The noise of the night whispered clearly into her ears. Suddenly, her ears pricked; the scent of mouse whiffed by her nose. Her eyes narrowing, she quickly, but quietly, padded along the smooth white surface of the headstone, pin-pointing her kill.

Pool padded glumly toward her faveorite hunting spot. Yesterday she couldn't catch any prey and was horribly mad at herself. She turned her blue eyes upward and saw the fire chief, Luna. Her senses went into hyperdrive as she cautiously moved forward. Oh how much she hated fire, even the fire tribe. She padded nuntheless forward. Perhaps this one was a nice Fire cat.
"Umm hello Luna. I'm Pool from the Water tribe." She said once the Chief had caught her prey and padded back to the same spot where Pool liked to bask in the sun on a cool day such as this. She tentivally swished her tail back and forth hoping that she didn't make the wrong choice.

Her ears flicked as she traced the voice's source. She frowned; another cat was nearby. That was just was she needed, she thought sarcastically. Ignoring the cat, who's scent revealed that it was a female and not from her own tribe, Luna padded onward toward the mouse. In a heartbeat, she lunged into the deep shadows, and killed it, her sharp claws scarring the earth. What a boring fight, she thought, the mouse barely attempted to defy his fate. Still ignoring the cat of water, Luna sat down, and licked her right paw delicately. With a sudden movement, Luna blew a fire blast between gritted teeth at the dead prey, toasting it. Then her eyes flashed, her gaze falling on Pool. "I thought the cats of water knew how not to interrupt a cat who is hunting, especially one of high rank." A smile played on her lips. Her tail curled around her, and she gave her chest fur a few licks.

Pool's eyes narrowed. "Well excuse me but I thought cats of higher rank were supposed to be kind not ugly and evil like you." She spat at the fire cat a thin stream of water squirting the fire cat. She siwshed her tail back and forth, her legs coiled ready to spring. She hissed under her breath. Now this was why she hated the fire cats so much. Her blue eyes showed her anger while the rest of her face was calm and collected.
Dust padded around the bend to get to his favorite spot to just lounge and do a bit of hunting. He stopped suddenly when he saw the two she-cats. The tension in the air told him that something had happened to make the water tribe she-cat mad. Dust couldn't really see who it was but when he saw who the other was his eyes narrowed. Luna messing with another competetor. He padded up and looked Luna straight in the face. "Luna you mustn't mess with others. How will other cats think of you when they see what you are doing?" He said in a soft yet firm voice. He was known by all tribes even though some he did not know.
(( Umm do you think that when Luna was younger Dust like save her from either death of embarssment that's why he knows her so well? ))

*Uh sure, not that Luna will act special toward him regardless... anyhow, some cats may just understand others more...your pick*
She gave the cat of water a quick glance, letting the clear liquid splash into her fur. Her white chest fur clumped slightly with the dampness. Then she flicked her ears, sighing. "Like I care what the rest of the world thinks. Regardless of your opinion of me, I am of higher status." Her amber eyes, flashed a knowing look toward the cat who appeared out of the shadows, Dust. She smiled, her whiskers giving a slight twitch. Whether that was in greeting or annoyance, who knows? "Dust..." She mewed softly, almost too softly. An angelic voice coated her own. "I trust you heard everything, yes?"

Pool sniffed and padded away from the annoying older cat. She flicked her tail in annoyance and walked away hoping that Luna and the Earth cat would leave soon.
Dust sighed and nodded. "No need to play sweet with me." He said sitting down to groom himself. His ears flicked that told Luna that he was listening to what she was about to stay.

Luna leaned forward, ignoring Dust's comment and the movements of Pool. She gave him a gentle lick behind the ear, and whispered so low that only he could catch what she said, "You know you want me more than you think..." The chief paused, then turned back toward the prey, picking it up in her jaws. With her eyes seemingly smiling, Luna slowly covered the ground until she reached Pool. Then, with a deliberately slow movement, she placed the mouse gingerly on the ground in front of the cat of water. Suddenly, her eyes narrowed, and the smile was gone from her facial features. Her claws unsheathed and then went back in again, as if a flash of fury ran through her. Her tail lashed once. She stood up straight. "Take it." Her voice, now raw with a slight anger, but also with other emotions not determined. "The Tribe of Water should accept a gift from the Tribe of Fire, after all, we are are part of the same clan and the same world." Without a second glance, the chief padded away from both cats, weaving through the gravestones until she, too, became a part of the shadows.

Dust breathed in Luna's scent. "Sorry Luna I'm taken." He said with a smirk on his face but he wasn't even sure she had heard. He padded after Luna after watching her dissappear into the shadows. He nodded to the water cat. He went back into the Earth Cave and layed down for a quick nap....
Pool looked warily at the fire chief. She leaned over and picked up the mouse in her teeth. She nodded back to the Earth cat. She say there looking at the serine landscape. She pondered over the events that had just taken place recently. Shrugging, she headed back to the Water Cave. She left the mouse in the pile and layed down.
